MACACA MAURA PROJECT
The Macaca Maura Project (MMP) is a multidisciplinary and longitudinal project, established in 2019, resulting from the collaboration of Hasanuddin University (Indonesia), Leipzig University (Germany), the University of Lincoln and the University of Portsmouth (United Kingdom). The MMP objectives are to help protecting the endangered moor macaque (Macaca maura) and its habitat in South Sulawesi (Indonesia), and to get a better understanding of the ecology, behaviour and cognition of this species. Our ethos is to always prioritise the wellbeing of all the animals and plants involved in our research, and of the local communities.
